Woods Hole 60 Years Later (May, 2010)

"The attached pictures were taken by my nephew and his wife Russell and Beth Evans. He is the grandson of my late brother Ret. Captain Gilbert Russell Evans of the Coast Guard. They were in Woods Hole about a month ago and took these pictures for me knowing that I was here many years ago. It is interesting to me that the brick building is still being used. It was built by the Lighthouse Service in 1917. and I spent almost 2 & 1/2 years there. It was used as a barracks, machine shop and radio shop. If you look at my old pictures you will see how much the base expanded and filled some of the harbor with dirt to gain more land. That is a NO NO today. I am just sending these pictures so you can see the difference 60 years makes."
