Stationed 29.5 mi - 115 degrees from Ambrose Lightship
Later wrecked near Dutch Harbor AK in 1923
Historical Note: It seems that history has been unkind to some of the Navy ships that were Temporary Lightships.
This is the second "bad Luck" ship that was used as a Lightship. From the Naval Registry comes that quote: "Lapwing Class Minesweeper: Laid down, (date unknown) by the Staten Island Shipbuilding Co., New York, NY; Launched, 29 March 1918; Commissioned USS Cardinal (AM 6), 23 August 1918; Grounded on a reef, 6 June 1923 off the coast of Chirikof Island and was abandoned; Struck from the Naval Register, (date unknown).
