I would like to thank Dick Boonisar, SCPO Karen Hanson, Gene Hanson, CPO Pete Fiske, Ron Janard, Rick Parks, Jack Mc Grath and SCPO Ron German for helping move some very very heavy artifacts to the second deck at the Coast Guard Heritage Museum. [CGHM]  The two not shown were Jack Mc Grath [VP CGHM] and SCPO Ron German

The CGHM is closed for the season and we are busier now than when we were opened for some of our volunteers. We are trying to get all the artifacts in areas where a docent can give a tour and the CG era's will be flowing with the sequence of time. The big problem was some of the real heavy stuff for Lightships were scattered on the first deck because of the weight of getting them to the second deck.

These are pictures of some of the people who got the job done, didn't break anything and no one got hurt. But I can say there was not a person there who didn't have beads of sweat pouring off their brows. Some who had not experienced that is some time..... me. Hee hee.. And I was taking the pictures.

The Mast Lantern salvaged from the sunken Vineyard Lightship and taken up in three heavy pieces to the second deck. The rudder port of the LV1 lightship which Ron Janard, Rick Parks had salvaged by them selfs and put on a 16' boat some years ago. [So Ron and Rick knew what they were up against when they volunteered their help and they still came.] Yeow... I have no idea how you guys salvaged it.

This picture says it all. "Holly #%$! how the hell did we get that up here with out breaking it".

The lantern is in the lightship room now. I didn't take a picture of the LV 1 rudder part, we are doing all the areas over to make them flow better on a tour. The display case looks like it is light but it's not, this is now to become the Dacey Collection and WW II display area in another room.
