I was in the Coast Guard from August, 1946 till August,1949. Although I only served 4 one month tours on LS 112 as temporary duty I spent two and a half years jumping on and off of seven other lightships repairing radio beacons and other electronics. I have probably climbed more jacob's ladders than most of the permanent duty sailors.
Also I will be 83 in December (2009), so I am probably one of the older members.

On August 20, 1946 I enlisted in the Coast Guard for three years. I was sent to Mayport, Florida for boot camp. Since I had completed over a year in the merchant marine plus going to their boot camp at Sheepshead Bay, NY the Coast Guard boot camp seemed fairly easy.
