The current tower is scheduled to be "laid to rest" sometime in the spring/summer 2004, forever extinguishing the long line of Lights on Frying Pan Shoals. There were very few of these towers made (only seven) and placed into service. Of those, only five still survive. These five will be gone in another year or so. If you get a chance to actually see one of the towers before that time, then you will see a piece of history that VERY few have had the opportunity to experience.
