Edmund "Lee" Burbage, BMCM USCG (Ret) 1930-2009

Edmund "Lee" Burbage, of Rogers Haven, Millville, DE, age 78 passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

He was born November 10, 1930 to the late Edmund and Norina Burbage. Lee retired in 1970 from the US Coast Guard as an E-9 Master Chief after 21 years of service to his Country. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Sinepuxent Lodge #193, editor and member of the Delmarva Limited Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, Parksley, VA. He was a member of the Girdletree Historical Society, Girdletree, MD, past member of the Millville Fire Co. and past member of the Lord Baltimore Lions Club. He was retired from Bob's Marine and I.W. Long. Lee was a railroad collector and railroad buff, a loving father and husband.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Deloris A. (Megee) Burbage; a son, Gregory S. Burbage of Girdletree, MD; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Wagner of N. Ferrisbury, VT and Carolyn Staab of The Villages, FL; 1 brother, George Burbage and his wife Francis of Fox Chase, PA; 1 niece, Pam (Rickards) Browne of Dagsboro, DE; 3 nephews, Keith Wagner and Clay Wagner of Vermont and George David Burbage of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by many friends, family members and his faithful and beloved dog, "Schultz".

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 11 am at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, MD. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will be held and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Buckingham Cemetery in Berlin.

Flowers will be accepted and contributions may be made in Lee's memory to the Girdletree Historical Society, c/o Sandra Hudson, Girdletree Post Office, Girldetree, MD. Arrangements are being handled by the BURBAGE FUNERAL HOME in Berlin.
