Location & historical notes: Florida, in the Florida Straights off Key Largo.  Moored close in to the site of the present Carysfort Reef Light, which replaced this lightship station.

Lightships assigned:

1825-1841: "AA "
Notes: May have been converted to a bell boat in 1841. A conflicting report indicates it may have been retired in 1830 due to excessive rot.

1841-1852: " BB "

Tonnage: 225; wood hull
Station: 1841-1852: Carysfort Reef (FL)
Note: Said to have been named FLORIDA. Possibly the former Federal sloop USS
FLORIDA, used earlier in the area as a survey vessel
