Associate Lightship Sailors Member Gene Snyder's Son is Serving His Country now.

Gene said in a message to our Secretary Rick Bennett, " I thought I'd let you all know I received a Blue Star Flag a VFW today, 2/10/04, for having a Son serving overseas.  The Flag is hanging in my front window and is visible at night due to a nearby street light.  For those too young to remember, in World War II, the Blue Star Flag was seen in the window of most homes that had a Son in a military service.  It has recently been resurrected in parts of the USA."

His Son is: Navy ITC Gene Snyder, Jr.  (CPO Information Technology Specialist) onboard the Destroyer USS John S. McCain home ported in Yokosuka, Japan

 The McCain travels with the carrier Kitty Hawk's battle group.  They left Yokosuka in January, 2003, for a three week cruise in the Pacific and returned home from the Persian Gulf on May 6.

Meet,

Dennis Michael Cosmo who is Named after our President Dennis Cosmo and his Uncle. Dennis described Him as, " Your
normal kid who never got into any serious stuff and played baseball until he got
tied of it . He has a great putt when he plays golf.

When he entered High School
he went into Junior Reserve Officers Training Course which is very strong in
his High School. He found his niche
in JROTC and really got involved, drill teams and community activities, and he
rose to the rank of Major of Cadets when he was a Senior. He has
received numerous Awards for his participation in JROTC. I think he has more
Medals and awards than Audi Murphy and George Patton combined.

He choose
not to go to West Point. He felt he had had enough school he decided to go airborne
he graduated from Ft Bennings ranked the #1.
soldier from there. He went to jump school, which he Graduated. He was
attending Ranger School when he was deployed to Iraq.

He spent 11
months there. Now he's at home on leave and GLAD to be back in the USA!

I have a Son over there serving our Country and His Name is Leron Cobb I  just wish he was home for Christmas.
